Picturing the Museum
In apothecaries, archives, icons,... through a novel complication of differing strands of contemporary art and museological reflection, Fred Langford Edwards invites us to re-consider the nature of the museum, and ultimately, the nature of the knowledge it houses. His work revolves around the ongoing primacy of photography as the postmodern art form sans pareil and, allied to this, the ongoing interest in the nature of science to artists. The museum serves as both place and subject of work for this artist, and each new body of his work distills for the viewer, with ever increasing purity and complexity, an opportunity to assess its nature.
